PARMA, Ohio -- Parma native Walter Tchoryk, 96, a Navy Seaman First Class who served from 1944 to June 1946 mostly in the South Pacific, has known about the Honor Flight Network's one-day trips for veterans to the nation's capital for a while. While interested, he didn't think the trip would ever happen. That changed late last spring when the now Parma Heights resident attended Parma's Memorial Day services at Veterans Memorial Park. 'After the Memorial Day services, Sean Brennan asked me if I did the Honor Flight,' said Tchoryk, who grew up on a then-unpaved Wood Avenue and attended Parma High School.
