PARMA, Ohio -- Flooding issues continue to be a concern for Parma leaders. That's why the city applied for and received a $1.6 million Ohio EMA Hazard Mitigation Grant to acquire and demolish up to eight residential structures located in flood zones. Currently Parma is working on an agreement with Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) to manage the grant, which requires a 10 percent match ($181,655) by Parma that the sewer district is covering. 'The grant allows us to purchase homes that are situated within a flood zone with the homeowners' consent,' Parma Service Director Tony Vannello said.
